And So It Begins

Well hello there! I've just signed up to start Beach Body! Woo hoo! I'm so excited to start this new journey. And the best part... Brant is doing it with me! We've both let ourselves go a little over the past year or so and it's time to get back to a healthy lifestyle. I'll probably miss eating a giant bowl of ice cream every night while I watch TV, but I'm not going to miss the flabby tummy/arms/butt/legs that have come along with all that ice cream. Haha!

So a little about me and where I am right now...

I am a wife, mom of two wonderful boys, tax manager, and cancer battler (yes that is actually a word). I was diagnosed with a rare terminal cancer (neuroendocrine carcinoma) on June 3, 2016. I was told I had only 10-12 months to live less than 2 weeks after my youngest son was born. Over the few months, my health went steadily downhill. I lost 60+ pounds simply just by not being able to eat or keep down anything I did force myself to eat. So my diet became: consume as many calories as I could all day every day. Unfortunately, after my health improved, by diet did not.

I've gained back about 10 pounds of the 60 that I had lost. I'm actually not hating the number on the scale right now, but I'm not loving the tighter clothes and the gross feeling I have every night after a day of unhealthiness. So for the first time in my life I'm not setting out on this journey to lose weight! What?!?! I truly am starting this to be healthier and give my body the nutrients and all the cancer fighting power it needs.

Health has come to mean a lot more to me over the past year than it has in the past. Before "healthy" meant "skinny" to me. But I became "skinny" and I was the furthest thing away from being "healthy". I now know better. To be healthy means so much more than a number on the scale or size of clothing. I will be the first person to admit that I am not a healthy person right now (I ate potato chips and butterfingers bites as my morning snack today). But I know that with a little work and dedication, I can become that healthy person I long to be.

I've always been told that in order to achieve your goals, you need to write them down. So here are my goals for the next 30 days:

1. Workout 6 out of 7 days each week.
2. Complete a 21 Day Fix & PiYo combination program
3. Use the portion control containers for each meal & snack
4. Plan out my meals for each week and stick to it
5. Help motivate Brant to reach his goals

I'm "officially" going to start my journey on Monday, July 3 (I know I'm crazy to start the day before a major food holiday...but I don't want to put it off any longer). So between now and then, I'll take my "before" pictures and measurements, plan out my meals for the upcoming week, and try not to binge on all the crappy food we have lying around the house that will need to disappear before I start. Yay! I'm so excited to get started!!
